The wood was formerly part of the Bryan-Bellew Estate. Thomas Moore wrote The Last Rose of Summer while staying at Jenkinstown House.... personally I think he picked the wrong flower.
Jenkinstown Park is about 10 km north of Kilkenny Town on the N78. It can be located on discovery map number 60, grid reference S-480 650. My thanks to Ignatius O'Neill for showing me this gem. |
