The heather is burnt annually on the mountains.
This
periodic burning of Heather can have advantages for both agriculture and wildlife conservation.
It provides improved accessibility and better food value for grazing animals and a more suitable habitat for game and wildlife alike.

The sun had just set behind the hills and we were left with a smoky twilight.
