An Cloch Fhada - The Long Stone. This stone stands at a stately 3 metres in height. Positioned right on the edge of a dangerously placed forestry road - I can see a timber truck ploughing into it some day. Simple in form, the standing stones' purpose has been lost over time. They are thought to have had many functions; burial markers, boundary markers, a marker on an ancient road or ceremonial.

The stone is thought to have been erected in the early bronze age; 2000-1500 BC. The forest around the stone blocks a spectacular view. in 1840 the area was called 'An cnoc ar a bhfuair Fionn fios' meaning the hill where Fionn Mac Cumhaill got knowledge.
